She's won awards both as a journalist and an entrepreneur from NYABJ, The Associated Press, Youth Venture, & The Kauffman Foundation. HP and Clutch Magazine named her one of the top African American Women to follow and dubbed her a ‘Tech Tastemaker.' Most recently she won an EMMY award for her work as a field producer with WNBC.

A girl with dreams and aspirations that stack way higher than her petite 5 foot two inch frame, grabbing at any and every opportunity, Rhonesha Byng knows a thing or two about getting things done.

Born into the hustle and bustle of New York, this Brooklyn native inevitably lives a busy life. Balancing journalism and entrepreneurship this recent college graduate seems to already have her hands full, and she’s only just beginning to embark on her agenda. She launched a website, HerAgenda.com to inspire other young women to follow their dreams.

Most recently she won an NYABJ award for the "Peek Inside Her Agenda" series on HerAgenda.com. She also won an EMMY award for her work as a field producer with WNBC. She’s been recognized by Clutch Magazine and Hewlett Packard as one of the top 50 African American women to follow on twitter in addition to other honors including academic (Student of the Year from the Emma Bowen Foundation) and career related (AP award for best radio documentary). Her entrepreneurial work has earned her awards from The Kauffman Foundation and Youth Venture. She’s part of the 2013 inaugural class for the Mobilizer Academy, a leadership development program for Millennials with social ventures.

Though she has gotten a bite from the entrepreneurial bug journalism is her first love. Ever since the age of 16 she’s lived the life of a journalist from interviews with celebrities, to industry events, to research and the dozens of emails and phone calls to get the story out.

She began her path into the hectic world of journalism as a high school sophomore simply by taking journalism as an elective at Edward R. Murrow high school. She had never considered it before and figured it would be a fun class since she is naturally curious has a passion for writing and loves people. That first class laid the foundations to an unrelenting passion and since then she has expanded her skills. She went on to become editor in chief of her school newspaper The Murrow Network. Ultimately she received the honor of being awarded the 2007 New York State High School Journalist of the Year. Since then she’s worked with NBC New York, NBC News, AOL Black Voices (theBVX), Mass Appeal magazine, The Ave Magazine and continues to freelance, write, edit, and front stories to expand her growing portfolio.

Rhonesha is an alumna POSSE scholar and attended DePauw University on a full-tuition leadership scholarship. Previously, Byng was a teen model. Her photos appeared in the August 2006 issue of Seventeen magazine, and also the January 2007 prom edition. She was featured in the September 2007 issue of Vibe Vixen as part of a conversation on women in hip hop.
